NRBQ’s cover of their own song…”Things To You” with Skeeter Davis (one of these guys was married to her…I clearly have to do my homework)
I’m surprised how much I like this song and how much I am starting to like more and more music thats not your typical production turn out from the 1980s and 1990s…this is a 1985 production, of course I would always vote to hear a well written/performed song produced in the 1960s (but a good song is a good song no matter what era)
I love Skeeter’s voice so much (one of my stylistic influences)…and she’s still got it, she sounds exactly the way she does on “End Of the World” but maybe even a little more confident…
Also the original version that NRBQ does is crazy…worth posting at some point as well….instead of a guitar solo like this version….they have a piano solo….a piano solo on ONE NOTE….it’s impressive what they pull off with so little going on….but thats the best part. Its one thing to over arrange a song to cover up its weakness, and its another thing to keep it “simple” to some degree and still have it be effective. So yes, I must post it soon, but check it out if you can’t wait!

According to TEEN Magazine, 1968….i’m a bird….and some sort of “wing-a-ding” which just sounds some what inappropriate…but the description fits….”bizarre, not beautiful”…..mission accomplished then….haha

sweet little beach boys reference in Jack’s flashback on the age of the microwave on 30 Rock followed by Liz asking,
“did that even happen?”
classic….and this parody song is better than anything thats currently a top 40 hit…just saying, think about it….haha
allow me to get sappy for one second…
what a bitter sweet moment, a beautiful song for a wonderfully talented woman.
i love “She’s A Rainbow” and i love Kristen Wiig, this got at my heart strings, she will surely be missed but she’s got so much talent to pursue new projects that are smart, clever and no doubt hilarious….and still that song, my god that song…it’s just gorgeous
and now for something not about Brian Wilson for a brief moment…
My pumpkin raisin bread was a big success! Pumpkin to me, is a flavor for ALL seasons! as agreed upon and approved by all present members of the mahavishnu project on tuesday…
…speaking of which, had a pretty trippy time up in Woodstock, NY for their show on Saturday, I had one job, to film the show, and the battery died and I had to run down from the balcony to plug it in….but besides that, the venue was beautiful, next to a little stream where I tried to get all the way across the tiny slippery rocks… but decided it’s best not to fall in before the show (or push anyone else, ahh restraint) ….and wandered around a graveyard where Levon Helms is not buried, but he might have been…again, it’s just nice to get out!
‘nuff said Brian…’nuff said

wow….so in celebration of Pet Sounds….the petting zoo came to my backyard…
nothing too shocking for my neck of the woods…since i’m in the middle of no where
but today, despite not being goats, these chickens symbolize something special
…at the very least they symbolize some type of chicken…

Happy 46th Birthday Pet Sounds!
I don’t know what else I can say without having far too much to say, this album has changed more lives than anyone can really comprehend, Brian Wilson can never receive enough thanks to understand the gift he has given the world. I dedicate my life to trying to musically honor the sounds of the Beach Boys!
Oh and…I want to go to a petting zoo so badly today to celebrate…

”God Only Knows” (arranged/played lead on soprano saxophone by me-Stephanie, for my senior recital) , with the help of a whole bunch of my swell chums!
…i think we managed to capture some of that bitter sweetness of the original, thats all I could have hoped for… I really wanted to do something special.
